Post-traumatic epilepsy (PTE) is one of the most significant long-term complications of traumatic brain injury (TBI). It is defined as recurrent, unprovoked seizures that occur more than one week after a brain injury. While seizures within the first week are considered provoked and symptomatic of the acute injury, late-onset seizures carry a high recurrence rate — approximately 80% — making long-term management essential.
